Teen Recovery / Rehab / Shelter / Help

Rehab Spot

Rehab Spot is an information hub that focuses on educating individuals on the treatment process: from selection, to what they can expect during treatment, to entering back into a drug-free life. As you know, adolescents who start drinking before the age of 15 are four times more likely to become alcohol dependent at some point in their lives.

This guide will help teens, and their loved ones, learn about alcohol abuse treatment and gain the confidence to commit to a life of wellness and sobriety.

Human Trafficking Information

The “SEE SOMETHING, SEND SOMETHING” mobile application or just “See Send”
The app is a nationwide suspicious activity reporting (SAR) tool for citizens to help in the fight against terrorism and criminal activity, but not to replace 911 for emergency situations. The smartphone application allows you to send suspicious activity as a photo or as written text directly to the Virginia State Police. The information is then automatically deleted from your phone so your anonymity is protected.
The application can be downloaded at no cost for iPhone and Android phone users, as well as iPad users.

National Human Trafficking Hotline Cases Jump by 13% in 2017
Cases of human trafficking reported to the:
National Human Trafficking Hotline (1-888-373-7888)
BeFree Textline (233733)
jumped by 13 percent in 2017 from the previous year.

The Polaris Project
Polaris is a leader in the global fight to eradicate modern slavery. Named after the North Star that guided slaves to freedom in the U.S., Polaris systemically disrupts the human trafficking networks that rob human beings of their lives and their freedom. Our comprehensive model puts victims at the center of what we do – helping survivors restore their freedom, preventing more victims, and leveraging data and technology to pursue traffickers wherever they operate.

Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force
Founded in 2004, the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force is a collaboration of federal, state, and local  law enforcement agencies, government agencies and nongovernmental organizations dedicated to (1) investigating and prosecuting those engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, and closely related crimes; (2) identifying, rescuing, and providing services to victims of human trafficking, and (3) conducting training, community outreach, and public awareness efforts.

Virginia’s social workers

Virginia’s social workers help thousands of their neighbors each day in a great service to their state. A community’s health credits those who take its responsibility into their obligations, and social workers play a leading role in this respect; they are responsible for directly improving physical and mental health, academic progress, career opportunities, and other major factors in a prospering environment.

SocialWorkLicensure.Org is dedicated to fostering the current and future generations of these community caretakers, and as a part of our efforts to do so, we’ve created a free guide to Virginia’s social work licensure – an in-depth resource covering bachelor’s through doctoral degrees, salary expectations, social work organizations, and more that prospective social workers need to flourish in their profession. In addition, we’ve also prepared a general guide of best practices and helpful tips for becoming a social worker in any state.

Take a look at our guides here:

Guide to Social Work Licensure in Virginia –
Guide to Becoming a Social Worker –

Nurturing social workers across the state strengthens communal health and promotes stability across many pillars of its structure. And though we’ve prepared the guides, we’ll need your help to get this information to those who need it. Please help our social workers by posting a link to these guides on the Grace Downtown of Winchester website. Here would be a great page for them: Your effort in making this information available will create a strong impact on the health of our communities.

Thank you for your help in sharing these educational resources. Please reach out to us with any questions you might have.

Thank you,

Recently a group of our medical professionals spent time with addiction experts to find out more about the substance abuse crisis that military veterans throughout the U.S. and their families are facing. There are of course further implications such as long term medical problems, additional psychiatric disorders, interpersonal and vocational impairment, and sadly suicide.  Unfortunately, for most communities this problem is hidden due to the lack of awareness. So we created a guide that provides comprehensive information on substance abuse statistics among veterans, governmental programs that offers treatment, and steps that veterans can take to get the help that they need. You can learn more about our guide here:
