WINCHESTER — Howard Gray said he’s grateful for finding sobriety in 1980 “because at least I got to enjoy the ’70s in full.” The Ashburn native got a huge laugh from those who packed the house Saturday night at the third annual Recovery’s Got Talent in the Winchester Medical Center Conference Center on Amherst Street. Gray opened the talent competition with an acoustic performance of Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page,” a fitting song for an evening designed to celebrate the many talents of people who have overcome life-threatening addictions to alcohol and drugs.......

WINCHESTER — As the Winchester area continues to battle a deadly opioid crisis, the Northern Shenandoah Valley Substance Abuse Coalition is emphasizing the importance of avoiding the pitfalls of addiction. To spread that message, the coalition and Grace Downtown of Winchester church sponsored a Play for Prevention basketball tournament Sunday at James Wood High School.
